"SAY WHAAAAAA???!"

I have to thank my friend Sombra at More Little Wilsons for drawing this to my attention.

Holy Cow.

Or, whatever.

This is for Real. In other words, this is what it looks like. Now, blink, shake your head and take another look.

I quote from the publicity statement.

"We are going to intercede at the site of the statue of the bull on Wall Street to ask God to begin a shift from the bull and bear markets to what we feel will be the 'Lion's Market,' or God's control over the economic systems. While we do not have the full revelation of all this will entail, we do know that without intercession, economies will crumble."

Anyone else want to drink the Kool-Aid??? Me, I'm just going to stand back and wait for the lightning. Or at least until the laughter around the world subsides.

ummm hon, it wasn't lightning that smote those golden calf worshippers.. it was the swords of the Levites - those who stepped forward saying that they were for the Lord.

Ex 32 26 So he stood at the entrance to the camp and said, "Whoever is for the Lord, come to me." And all the Levites rallied to him. 27 Then he said to them, "This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: 'Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbor.'" 28 The Levites did as Moses commanded, and that day about three thousand of the people died. 29 Then Moses said, "You have been set apart to the Lord today, for you were against your own sons and brothers, and he has blessed you this day."

The Levites represent the Priesthood, and Messiah is HaCohen HaGadol - the Great High Priest.. who will come with a Sword.

Rev 13:10 If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity he will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword he will be killed. 10 This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of the saints.

Sombra -- Good point about the lightning. I guess it's also a point to make that these people are not necessarily worshipping this bull... it's just a darn IRONIC picture and the whole sentiment behind it is, IMHO, entirely screwy. They make God sound like some sort of Commie in the Sky. And, really? While I'm not one to discredit Things that God may be doing or asking just cause I'm not comfortable... I can't imagine hearing some dude in a church saying, "Now, listen up. It's come to my attention that Money and the American Economy is so incredibly important to God, but... stay with me... He can't do anything on His own unless we go and lay hands on a Golden Calf. His hands are tied. So, whaddaya say, people? Who's going with me to gather round the Golden Calf and pray for Money?" and being down with that. Yet? In America? PEOPLE ARE. And they will gather round the Golden Calf (apparently so ignorant of their own religion to know that God may be a bit touchy bout the whole Golden Calf idea) and believe that their money system is one of the highest-ranking things on the Almighty's list. Forget starving babies and war-torn-genocidic countries. Forget diseased children and dying parents. The ECONOMY is where it's at.

So incredibly self-serving.

Don't get me wrong. I know well that God sometimes does do things and use things that seem like folly to men. You just have to read Scripture to see that. But, I'm not "BUYING" this one.

JodyJ -- It is pretty cracked up, isn't it?

Yeah, this appeared on my radar, too. God's economy is entirely different than how things are done on the Earth for sure. Gathering around a metal bull with flags waving doesn't strike me as being particularly ...kosher. No wonder Christians get laughed at.

digger -- I have to wonder why no one stopped to think in the middle of all the planning that probably went into this Rally; "Hmmm... brazen bull. What sort of photo op will this give the world?" Fools trample where angels fear to tread and what not, I guess.

Sometimes people do a better job of parody-ing themselves than anyone could ever do to them. . .

This seems like a publicity stunt gone horribly wrong. I wonder if they have the same PR people as those Westboro Baptist folks.

desmond -- seriously, so very true. If SNL or MadTV did a skit like this, we wouldn't believe it could ever happen or that they would mock Christians like that.

ftn -- I had to google Westboro Baptist Church to know what you were referring to and... oh my. Points on "Horrible" and "Wrong" for sure.
